From Our Shop in Ohio to Your Driveway—Anywhere in the USA.

We don’t just build heavy-duty gates; we have mastered the art of delivering and shipping them. Whether you are in Naples, Florida, or the mountains of Montana, your custom gate will arrive safely, securely, and ready to install.

“Overkill” Packaging: How We Prevent Shipping Damage

The #1 fear our customers have is shipping damage. We solve this by over-engineering our crates. Unlike standard freight that gets tossed on a pallet, your gate is treated like fine art.

Our 3-Step Protection Process:

  1. The Wrap: Every inch of the gate is wrapped in heavy-duty marine-grade foam and protective carpet padding to prevent scratches.

  2. The Crate: We build a custom structural timber frame around your specific gate. This isn’t a flimsy box; it’s a rigid exoskeleton that prevents bending or warping.

  3. The Strap: The gate is cozily contained within the crate so it cannot shift during transit.

“Don’t let the shipping scare you off.” “I ordered a 14 ft dual swing gate from JDR… They are located in Ohio and had to ship it to Oklahoma. That was a breeze and they crated it using the thickest carpet pad I have ever seen. So don’t let the shipping scare you off. What a great company to work with.”Kenni S., Tulsa, OK (Verified Review)

Delivery Options: How to Get Your Gate

We ship via major LTL freight carriers (FedEx Freight mostly). You have two options for receiving your gate:

Option 1: Residential Delivery (Convenience)

The truck comes directly to your home or job site.

  • For Smaller Gates (Under 8ft): A truck with a “Liftgate” can lower the pallet to the ground for you.

  • For Estate Gates (10ft – 20ft+): These crates are too large for a standard liftgate. You must have equipment on-site (like a tractor with forks, a skid steer, or a forklift) to offload the crate from the back of the truck.

    • Tip: Many homeowners have their fence contractor coordinate the delivery to handle the offloading.

Option 2: Terminal Pickup (Save Money & Time)

We ship the gate to the nearest freight terminal to your zip code.

  • Why choose this? It is often cheaper (no residential fees) and you don’t need a forklift.

  • How it works: You drive your truck or trailer to the terminal. The freight dock workers will use their forklift to load the crate gently onto your trailer. You drive it home and unpack it at your own pace.

Estimated Transit Times

Once your gate leaves our shop in Ohio, standard freight times are:

  • Midwest & East Coast (inc. Florida): 2 – 4 Business Days

  • Texas & South: 3 – 5 Business Days

  • West Coast (CA, WA, OR): 5 – 7 Business Days

The “Zero-Risk” Guarantee

We are fully insured. After shipping for over 15 years we’ve only experienced a couple of shipping mishaps. We mostly use FedEx Freight, although occasionally our client has a shipping company they prefer to pick up from. In the extremely rare event that a freight carrier damages your gate during transit:

  1. Refuse the shipment if pallet appears damaged (or note damage on the delivery receipt).

  2. Call us immediately.

  3. We handle the claim. You are not stuck fighting a trucking company. We will prioritize the fabrication of your replacement parts or unit to make it right.

Shipping skid with driveway gate inside.

Freight shipping a gate system via fedex.

We’ve been shipping driveway gates via freight for over a 15 years now. Our custom gates are heavily padded and shipped inside a heavy duty enclosed shipping skid. We’ve shipped hundreds nationwide without issue. They can be delivered residential or picked up from your local freight terminal.

Gates are always securely wrapped and crated with foam packaging inside and also fully insured in the unlikely event that damage would ever occur during transit. Our clients often opt to pick up their new custom driveway gates from their local UPS or FEDEX freight terminal themselves, or send their contractor to do it for them.

If residential delivery is the chosen method then gates and posts can also be offloaded from the freight truck either by forklift/skid steer or the skid can be quickly broken down upon arrival and the gates and posts offloaded by hand, one by one, with the help of several friends. Most gate panels weigh 250 lbs or less (more for much larger gates). Trucks with lift gates are available for our smaller gates at an extra fee.
